About

Badger mixed martial arts

Hello, my name is Jeffery Tucker. I started martial arts at the age of 3 with Taekwondo, then Hapkido at the age of 10. I instantly fell in love with the mixed martial arts aspect of Hapkido as it is a combination of multiple disciplines - Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Jujitsu and Aikido.

I studied under master TM Kwon, one of the highest ranked and world renowned Hapkido masters. By the age of 18, I received my black belt in Hapkido. In 2004, I won the World Pro Hapkido tournament. I was chosen by MTV to represent the art of Hapkido in the competition - The Final Fu - which took the top 30 martial artists in the nation, with different martial arts background, to compete for the championship.

Benefits of training Martial Arts

Stress Relief

Martial arts practice encourages deep breathing, meditation, and mindfulness. It trains your mind to stay focused while maintaining calmness and alertness. This can be especially helpful when juggling multiple tasks that demand your attention.

Life Purpose

Practitioners often experience a sense of calm, confidence, and renewed peace with their life purpose. Martial arts provide a path to self-discovery and alignment with personal goals.

Physical Exercise

Engaging in martial arts offers a full-body workout, enhancing cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility. It also triggers the release of “feel-good” chemicals like endorphins, lifting your mood and boosting confidence.

Emotional Regulation

Through martial arts, you can master your mind and emotions. This leads to greater emotional stability, assertiveness, self-confidence, and reduced aggressive feelings.

Increased Self-Esteem

Just as physical exercise strengthens your body, martial arts challenges strengthen your mind. It teaches resilience, helping you bounce back from setbacks and maintain a positive outlook even during tough times.

Personal Development

Martial arts encourage introspection, helping you identify areas for improvement and gain the confidence to make positive changes in your life1. Forgiveness and Healing: By establishing boundaries and redirecting feelings of powerlessness, martial arts empower you to find inner strength and heal from past trauma.

Self-Defense Skills

Safety is paramount. Martial arts equip children with practical self-defense techniques, empowering them to protect themselves if needed. Knowing how to handle challenging situations builds confidence and resilience.

Physical Fitness

In today’s screen-dominated world, children need physical activity. Martial arts provide a dynamic workout that enhances strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health. It’s a fun way to keep kids active while learning valuable skills.

Character Development

Martial arts classes emphasize essential character traits such as respect, humility, perseverance, and discipline. Children learn to set goals, work hard, and treat others with kindness. These qualities extend beyond the dojo into everyday life.

Improved Concentration

Active listening and observing are fundamental in martial arts. Kids develop focused attention, which enhances their ability to learn new moves and sequences. This skill translates to better concentration in academics and other activities.

Social Skills

Martial arts classes foster a supportive and respectful environment. Children interact with peers, learn teamwork, and build friendships. They also practice empathy and cooperation, essential for healthy social development.

Mental Resilience

Facing challenges, overcoming obstacles, and mastering techniques build mental toughness. Kids learn to persevere through setbacks, developing resilience that serves them well in various aspects of life.

Structured Environment

Good martial arts instructors establish clear rules and reinforce positive behavior. This structured setting teaches kids responsibility and accountability while maintaining a safe and respectful atmosphere1.

Energy Outlet

Contrary to the myth that martial arts encourage violence, they provide a safe outlet for kids to release energy and manage emotions. Kicking and practicing self-control allow children to work out frustration constructively.

Boosted Self-Esteem

As children progress through different belt levels, they experience a sense of accomplishment. Earning a new belt boosts self-esteem and motivates them to continue their martial arts journey.

Cool Factor

Let’s not forget the fun! Many kids find martial arts cool and exciting. Wearing martial arts gear, breaking boards, and executing impressive moves make them feel special and confident.
